2023.12.10 Refuge Ceremony

On December 10th, Da Bei Monastery held a bilingual (Chinese-English) refuge ceremony, during which Venerable Master Xian Gui granted the Three Refuges to the attendees. The refuge ceremony consists of ten parts, namely, inviting the venerable master, worshiping the Buddha, seeking refuge, receiving teachings of the master, inviting saint, repenting, formally taking the Three Refuges, making vows, manifesting benefits of refuges and exhortations, and dedicating merits to all sentient beings.

The eight individuals taking refuge, from China and the Netherlands, officially became Buddhist disciples through the ceremony. During the teaching, the master Xian Gui emphasized that taking refuge is not a culmination of buddhist practice but a starting point. After taking refuge, individuals should deepen their understanding of the Buddha's teachings. Da Bei Monastery will continue to organize study groups, meditation classes, etc. to guide everyone on the path of practicing and realizing the teachings of Buddhism.
